Water Works Museum of Thessaloniki
The Water Works Museum of Thessaloniki is housed in what was once a pumping station of the Thessaloniki Water Supply and Sewerage Co., to which it belongs. The purpose of the museum is to educate the visitor in aspects of the history of the city’s water supply, and in the correct management of water supplies. The pumping station was built in the late 19th century (1890-94) at a distance of about 1,500m from the western walls of the historic city centre. It was built entirely from construction materials imported from Belgium.
